Overcoming Obstacles and Finding Inspiration: Survey Insights

Dear Parish Family,

Previously, we shared some of the key interests and programs that are capturing your hearts here at St. Joan of Arc. This week, we’re excited to dive a little deeper and talk about the challenges many of you face when it comes to participating in faith formation activities, as well as what inspires you to get involved. Your responses have given us a clearer understanding of what’s holding some back and what drives others to engage more fully.

What’s Getting in the Way?

We understand that life can be demanding, and it’s not always easy to make time for faith formation. Here are the most common barriers that you shared with us:

  • Time Constraints: This was by far the biggest hurdle. Many of you have busy schedules packed with work, family, and other obligations, making it difficult to carve out time for parish programs.
  • Awareness of Programs: Some parishioners shared that they’re not always aware of what’s happening in our parish. We know communication can make all the difference, and we’re committed to improving how we share opportunities with you.
  • Scheduling Conflicts: Finding the right time for everyone is a challenge, especially when trying to balance family life, work, and other commitments.

We’re actively working to help remove these barriers. Expect to see more flexible scheduling options and an improved communication strategy to make sure you never miss out on an opportunity that speaks to you.

What’s Inspiring You to Participate?

Despite the challenges, so many of you are deeply motivated to engage in your faith and connect with others. Here’s what drives our parish family to get involved:

  • Spiritual Renewal: Many of you shared that faith formation activities bring you closer to God, refreshing your spirit and grounding you in your daily life.
  • Personal Growth: A large number of parishioners participate in these programs to strengthen and deepen their understanding of faith, seeking personal transformation.
  • Community Building: Faith is something we experience together, and many of you expressed a strong desire to build lasting connections with fellow parishioners. Gathering as a community is one of the things that makes our parish special.

Knowing what motivates you helps us design programs that are more meaningful and aligned with your spiritual goals. This feedback is shaping our plans for future activities that will refresh, inspire, and connect our parish family.

Exciting Opportunities Coming Soon

In response to these findings, we’re currently developing new ways to meet you where you are:

  • Family-Friendly Events: We’ll be introducing activities designed for families to attend together, as well as complementary offerings that allow you to share your faith with your children and loved ones in an accessible way.
  • Flexible Program Formats: Look for a mix of options, from short-term events to ongoing series, online opportunities, and self-paced resources, so you can engage in a way that fits your schedule.
  • Improved Communication: Keep an eye on the bulletin, website, and social media. We’re committed to providing timely updates so you always know what’s happening in our parish.

Get Involved Now!

If you’re looking for a way to engage right now, consider joining our ongoing Bible Study group, which meets on Thursdays from 9:15-10:35am resuming on December 5. Additionally, we offer Catholicism 101 three Sundays a month—an adult faith formation program. Check the schedule on page # for details.
